MESSAGE FROM THE FACULTY SENATE
Dear Graduates,
The Faculty Senate of California State University, Sacramento, is pleased to join your family and friends
in congratulating you on your accomplishments. The degree you have earned and the awards ceremony
today represent and celebrate a great achievement and personal milestone in your life.
The success of any graduate comes as the result of years of hard work, sacrifices, perseverance, and
dedication to purpose. Your strength of character, resilience, and grit have taken you to this moment.
Today, you should pause to take pride in your accomplishments and the honor being bestowed on you.
Your progression toward your degree at Sacramento State has given you the chance to acquire skills,
values, and knowledge that are particular to your major field of study as well as an appreciation for the
broader knowledge that distinguishes the University graduate. We hope that you leave Sacramento State
with a dedication to a life of inquiry and learning; the ability to think critically and articulate your positions;
and an appreciation of the value of diversity and working collaboratively with others. These values and
skills should serve you well as you face the future with its challenges, promises, and many opportunities.
We, the faculty of California State University, Sacramento, are extremely proud of you. We truly wish you
the best in your future endeavors, and hope that you remember to never accept the status quo, always
ask questions, be critical in your thinking, innovate, and always be your true authentic self. As you find
success in whatever path you take, we encourage you to seek ways to serve your community so that
those who follow in your footsteps may have the same opportunity to succeed that you have had.
