COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND HUM AN SERVICES
The College of Health and Human Services (HHS) includes the Schools of Nursing and Social Work, the
Division of Criminal Justice, the Departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology,
Physical Therapy, Public Health, Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration, and Health Science. Taken
together, the College’s academic programs meet 15 sets of external accreditation and licensing standards
and are recognized for quality, currency, and innovation. HHS values diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging,
social justice, access, professional ethics, and social responsibility.
Through our programs, students join with faculty to work in internships, clinical rotations, and field
placements and participate in and conduct research directly related to community well-being. The faculty
and staff are committed to student success and best practices. The College operates six pro bono physical
therapy clinics and is the home to the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center, which
assesses and treats more than 950 clients each year in its Speech and Language Clinics and Audiology
Clinics. The College is home to the Center for Health Practice, Policy, and Research (CHPPR) and its mobile
healthcare initiative Health Hive, which are dedicated to impacting community health by promoting
collaboration, transdisciplinary practice, and innovation to reduce health inequities in California’s capital
region. The College also houses the Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution, the Law Enforcement
Candidate Scholars (LECS) program, and the HHS Student Success Center, which makes over 7,000 student
contacts per year.
The College has a significant impact on the delivery of health and human services in the Sacramento
region and beyond, with more than 7,600 current students. HHS is proud to collaborate with campus
partners to diversify the region’s workforce and serve the needs of the community. More than 50,000 HHS
alumni have a significant impact on the delivery of health and human services in the Sacramento Region
and beyond.
